Palo, Leyte - BJMP8 Safekeepers Bike Team joined in the “60-km Bike for the Wetlands” advocacy ride last 02 February 2019 relative to the celebration of the World Wetlands Day. Together with other bikers. They travelled the route from Palo Town Plaza-Castilla-Pastrana-Sta.Fe-San Isidro-Divisoria-New Era-Langit-Dapdap-Salvacion-Alangalang-Sta. Fe then back to Palo Town Plaza where the second confirmed peatland in the Visayas by the ASEAN Secretariat and Global Environment Center is located - the Leyte Sab-a Basin.
The said multi-agency event spearheaded by International Institute of Rural Reconstruction,Visayas State University, LGU of Alang-alang and Palo thru Vice Mayor Atty. Ronan Reposar and Wetlands International represented by Mr. Judah Singzon Aliposa was part of the Leyte Sab-a Peatland Forest Restoration Initiative Project aiming to save the wetlands in order to reduce the impact of the Climate Change.
